I found the material I needed at work to extend the crank. I used 1″ schedule 40 pipe. It has a 1″ OD, which is close to the same OD as the original part of the crank arm.

I then welded up the pieces and spent way more time than I should have grinding it down to a more aesthetically pleasing shape.


Ahh…much better. It actually clears the pipe now.

It pedals ok, but you really don’t pedal these unless you absolutely have to, right? I really only quarter kick mine and “pedal” when I’m positioning my feet around turns. The crank could probably used to be straightened a little bit. I’ll leave that for the new owner to decide. He’ll have to take the crank off to paint it anyway. It’s too cold right now to get any paint to adhere.
